Grey Seal

Scientific Name: Halichoerus grypus

Habitat: Water around rocky cliffs in the north Atlantic Ocean

Food: Fish

Facts: Grey seals bear their young around rocky coasts. The pup is born with long, wooly, white-grey fur. This coat is shed and replaced with darker, shorter heair when they are four to five weeks old. At this time, they are weaned and must search for their own food.

Grey seals have long claws on their front flippers which are used to catch and hold fish.
